A recent announcement was released by the Prime Minister’s office on 28th May 2021, announcing the implementation of the Phase 1 FMCO (Full MCO, also known as ‘total lockdown’) nationwide for a period of 14 days until 14 June 2021.
Throughout this duration, all economic sectors are not allowed to operate with the exception of essential economic and service sectors. This tough decision was made following a rise in COVID-19 cases in Malaysia in recent weeks, with daily cases exceeding 8,000 and over 70,000 active cases – pushing the nation’s healthcare institutions to a breaking point.
Wholistic Family Association took this chance to come up with a brief session for all entrepreneurs and business owners to understand the restriction and what it entails. Mr. Etrus Tan from Messrs. Esther Ong Tengku Saiful & Sree came forward to join us to help speak about this topic as the firm’s corporate social responsibility.
The session was done on Zoom and engaged many business owners to help them to understand the situation and overcome the sudden change in working arrangement. It was noted that there were a few changes made to the list of essentials services issued by The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) compared to the previous MCO arrangements.
We thank Mr. Etrus so much for his passion and support towards struggling business owners out there with this initiative. We hope that the public has benefitted a lot from our session this time.
