Infringement of Trade Mark on Social Media

Know your rights as a brand owner and entrepreneur. With the emergence of e-commerce, so many trade marks have been imitated and infringed which brings confusion to the consumers.

Trademark, copyright, registered: What’s the difference? Brand owners looking forward to understanding intellectual property have benefitted so much from this talk as our speaker, Ms. Esther Ong touched on the details to protect your brand, registering your trade mark as well as the relief that can be taken if someone infringes your trade mark online.

Full Lockdown: Maintaining and Enhancing Family Relationship

Never-ending assignments. 24/7 working from home with no work-life balance. Zero time for yourself and family as a couple, parents and siblings.

There’s no secret that prolonged MCO can take a psychological toll on anyone, especially families. Juggling many hats at once, especially parents and students could be overwhelming during these times.

On 8th June, we held a session on ClubHouse, an audio-chat app to take a breather and rearrange our thoughts with our licensed registered counselor, Meng Wai to speak about FMCO: Maintaining and Enhancing Family Relationships.

It was a fruitful session as we spoke about the following:

  1. How does the pandemic, especially the imposed restriction of movement affect family relationships?
  2. Do you believe that the MCO could also make family relationships instead of breaking them? How so?
  3. Working from home, a lot of the time also means working 24/7 for some, and this event could lead to a strain on a relationship. How do you advise proper time management for those working from home to also spare quality time with family?
  4. It’s been around 2 years to have online classes for university students. How can we make parents more understanding of the never-ending assignments and what can be done by uni students to alleviate stress?

The room was opened for the audience to tune in and chime in to create an interactive discussion too.

Full MCO: The Comprehensive Guide for Business Owners 2021

A recent announcement was released by the Prime Minister’s office on 28th May 2021, announcing the implementation of the Phase 1 FMCO (Full MCO, also known as ‘total lockdown’) nationwide for a period of 14 days until 14 June 2021.

Throughout this duration, all economic sectors are not allowed to operate with the exception of essential economic and service sectors. This tough decision was made following a rise in COVID-19 cases in Malaysia in recent weeks, with daily cases exceeding 8,000 and over 70,000 active cases – pushing the nation’s healthcare institutions to a breaking point.

Wholistic Family Association took this chance to come up with a brief session for all entrepreneurs and business owners to understand the restriction and what it entails. Mr. Etrus Tan from Messrs. Esther Ong Tengku Saiful & Sree came forward to join us to help speak about this topic as the firm’s corporate social responsibility.

The session was done on Zoom and engaged many business owners to help them to understand the situation and overcome the sudden change in working arrangement. It was noted that there were a few changes made to the list of essentials services issued by The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) compared to the previous MCO arrangements.

We thank Mr. Etrus so much for his passion and support towards struggling business owners out there with this initiative. We hope that the public has benefitted a lot from our session this time.

Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership with ARFF

On 25th May 2021, The ASEAN Retail Chains & Franchise Federation with its subdivision- Women Entrepreneur Bureau conducted a talk that echoes with business owners, especially those looking forward to expand their business to the ASEAN level.

Following this opportunity, Wholistic Family Association also came in collaboration to provide the public free seatings to join the talk. This was under our Aid & Support initiatives that encourages entrepreneurs to develop themselves as better business owners by empowering themselves with vital knowledge to upscale their business.

The speaker, Ms Esther Ong as the chairperson of the Women Entrepreneur Bureau, informed participants about the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) that serves as an important agreement between the ASEAN countries to protect our market.

In summary, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Agreement is an agreement to broaden and deepen ASEAN’s engagement with Australia, China, Japan, Korea and New Zealand. Together, these RCEP participating countries account for about 30% of the global GDP and 30% of the world population.

The objective of the RCEP Agreement is to establish a modern, comprehensive, high-quality, and mutually beneficial economic partnership that will facilitate the expansion of regional trade and investment and contribute to global economic
growth and development.

Accordingly, it will bring about market and employment opportunities to businesses and people in the region. The RCEP Agreement will work alongside and support an open, inclusive, and rules-based multilateral trading system.

The Wholistic Family Association is honoured to be included in such an educational talk which gives room for our entrepreneurs to grow wholistically for the benefit of our country’s economy. That being said, WFA will continue to engage such highly beneficial platform to aid in public awareness.

How to Rock Your Presentation @ Giving Voice #1

Scratching your head for your upcoming presentation to your lecturers or higher-ups? How do you amplify your confidence in speaking and ensure that your presentation leaves a significant impression?

With us on last 11th May, we had Azidzul Dzailrulhafiq to speak about rocking your presentation using the 3Vs trick. He has been involved in the Training and Development Industry and possesses diversified experience in training participants from various backgrounds.

Azidzul has developed modules and conducted programs in Breaking Through Self Limitation, Team Building, Communication and Problem-Solving Skills for Corporate sectors. He has also participated as a Motivational Speaker at the OpenMic act and Berani Bersama (2020) as part of a fund-raising program.

Some points taken away from the event were to acknowledge our fear of speaking in public, understanding our subject-matter comprehensively and that practice makes perfect. The 3Vs consist of vocal, visual and verbal to be utilised during our presentation. These three Vs are the main components that make up a successful and engaging presentation.

We were so, so delighted to have En. Azidzul with us last Tuesday to speak about polishing your presentation skills with 3V tricks. We thank En Azidzul very much for accepting our invitation to become a speaker to share with us his 7 years of experience in training and development.

Please look forward to many more of our series which includes self-development & improvement, food sustainability & planting and legal topics. Stay tuned for our updates!

The fight towards a greener Malaysia.

Wholistic Family Association has kickstarted its WFA Talk Series program, featuring inspirational figures who have exceptional stories and experiences regarding farming and sustainable living.

Last Friday on April 16th, our first online talk was held successfully with the presence of Hj. Razak Aziz as our first speaker, the founder of SEEDS Malaysia. Hj. Razak is a permaculture practitioner and he advocates sustainable living by design, after going into seclusion from the hustle bustle of the city with his wife, Puan Intan.

Quoting his words from the session, Hj Razak encourages the public to give back to the nature within their own capacity. We sometimes feel constrained by our professional titles and careers that we cannot seem to look beyond those. He advised everyone to start understanding and look at the relations between what we do for a living and the mother nature. After all, it seems as though the answers to our setbacks and difficulties always lie in the magnificence of the environment.

As simple as this session may had been, we were really inspired by his endeavours. Resonating with our aim to empower the community around us, we’re glad that Hj Razak and SEEDS Malaysia is together with us battling this never-ending fight towards a greener Malaysia.
